Note the two adjusting screws.The top one is a stop and the bottom the tension adjustment. The plate that they are moving is a floating -- all directions idler gear that is thrust into the main gear and dial shaft quenching backlash. The top gear in the photo below is attached to the tuning capacitor and is composed of two gears that are spring loaded to prevent back lash. |
