Photo of swamping alignment technique.  The wave is centered in the band pass.  Results in the un swamped waveform at the left.   The swamped technique is far simpler and just as accurate as sweep alignment in these broadband systems.

Note the blips referencing the 6.0Mc snd 6.5Mc points.  Using the sweep alignment technique is very difficult with dual tuned in and out broadband systems.
